The Communal Medal of Honor is awarded to the following individuals for their dedication and integrity in my absence over the past 10 weeks:

➥ Second Platoon Sergeant: Staff Sergeant Jeffrey Fletcher

As a whole, during my time away these specific individuals have stepped up to fill their leadership positions in extraordinary ways. Providing the community with a role and leadership model that one can admire. I thank them for the undertaking of such a responsibility, and I am proud to call them members of the 28th CAD. Everyone knows their names, and how who they are defines what the 28th CAD stands for.

I am excited to be back and with the gang, I have missed all of you more than you know, and I am happy to return to a unit of the same beauties that I left it with.

Thank you for your time reading this lengthy ALCON, and I am looking forward to meeting the new additions to the 28th CAD, and continue work with it's seasoned members.

Ellis has been with us for coming up on two years, and in the past year, has distinguished himself as the clear award winner and recipient of the 2021-2022 Soldier of the Year. He has single handedly provided the leadership and dedicated not required, but needed, to make so many things happen over the past year that has gotten us to where we are now. He has not only taken these duties and executed them, but he has gone above and beyond what I expected, some notable contributions include:

- The website and it's beautiful design.

- Operating as the CO in my absence over the past while.

- Our PERSCOM system.

- Operating at the 1IC of DUO and DUREC to get them back onto their feet after a change of command, training a new 1IC and subsequently passing the shop to them.

- Giving leadership and guidance to new members of Company Command.

- The introduction of new awards in our awards system.

- The constant flow of new ideas to keep the unit fresh and exciting.

- The current deployment that has just dropped.

- Emotional and mental support for so many people in this community.

- The willingness to sacrifice his own goals and time to help others succeed regularly.

At one point in the unit's history, the website was in jeopardy of being deleted, along with many of the members' information. I contacted Ellis to help me solve this problem, when at the time, he was a Squad Leader in Alpha Company. He immediately dropped what he was doing, and helped me solve the problem. It took many hours of work copying all the information over. To this day, I will always thank him for this. As shortly after he was named the NCOIC of the 28th CAD, and as of late, the Executive Officer. I cannot put into words how thankful I am to have him here in the unit with us.

I invite the units members to take the time and reflect on how Ellis has affected them indirectly or directly, and take a moment to recognize that his work should never be taken for granted, and to appreciate the work he has put in to bring the unit forward daily.

Thank you everyone for all your hard work over the past year, often your work goes unrecognized and unawarded. We thank all those silent warriors out there that make the gears turn for us.
